As I read this units literature, I enjoyed it. Much of it I had already read before, whether it would have been in another course of mine or over my own discovery: but in short, I enjoyed these readings for the most part. My favorite out of the bunch would definitely have to be “The Red Wheelbarrow” by William Carlos Williams though.
I think I enjoyed these readings because they were easy enough ones to begin with. Since this is the beginning of the class, I liked how they eased me back into analyzing and writing about other texts. I also enjoyed the short nature of the poems, since I despise long poems and short poems are definitely more favored by me. I also enjoyed how these readings told us a lot without being too word-y, they seemed to be straight to the point instead of dancing around the point, which I enjoyed. As mentioned in one of our discussion questions, I enjoyed how two of the poems, “The Red Wheelbarrow” and “Anecdote of the Jar” used items to symbolize our relationship with the natural world. Sometimes, talk about the environment seems to go over my head but I still want to participate in that sort of discussion, and these two poems were perfect for just that. These readings were pleasant to read and weren’t too difficult yet not too easy.
